At Diploma Access Academy, we empower students with the tools they need to overcome obstacles and achieve access. Be inspired by these success stories from graduates of our program.
Andrea G.
Andrea was falling behind at her high school. She was worried that she was too behind in her classes and would never be able to catch up. But she dreaded going to her public high school and felt that her teachers were unkind and disrespectful. After she made the decision to start homeschooling, Andrea found Diploma Access Academy. She immediately connected with online learning and her new teachers who provided the one-on-one support, kindness, respect, and motivation that Andrea needed to flourish. Now, Andrea works at Sonic Drive-In as a cook and plans to major in forensic pathology in college.
“At Diploma Access Academy, the teachers are so nice and helpful. They always told me to be proud of myself and to be impressed by my accomplishments. I feel that’s what really helped me get through school easily, because my teachers motivated me to want to do better.”
Alex R.
As a teen mom, Alex struggled with feeling overwhelmed by her responsibilities. At school, she was falling behind in her credits and failing almost all of her classes. She knew that a traditional high school schedule was not compatible with the demands of being a new mom. The ability to tailor her schedule to meet her lifestyle is what drew Alex to Diploma Access Academy. Alex appreciated the ability to check in daily and get the help she needed without having to put in a full day of school. A self-described “slow learner,” Alex also benefited greatly from the ability to work at her own pace and from the individualized attention that she received.
“I didn’t feel rushed to finish everything. This helped me understand the material more. If you don’t understand something, the teachers will explain it to you as many times as you need and they don’t make you feel ignorant. I can definitely say that my overall experience was life changing.”
Joshua P.
Joshua’s home life felt unmanageable and complicated. The social constructs of his traditional high school setting left him feeling overwhelmed physically, mentally, and emotionally. He was barely passing his classes. With Diploma Access Academy’s online format, Joshua valued the freedom to complete his school work anytime and anywhere. He also flourished with the support provided by Diploma Access Academy’s wrap-around services and one-on-one counseling. Instead of feeling powerless, Joshua was empowered by the realization that he had it within him to find success.
“At Diploma Access Academy, it became very clear that the choice to succeed or fail was my own. With the help of my teachers, I was free from judgment and able to embrace accountability for myself. They brought awareness of the power of choice.”
Raquel S.
Raquel was falling behind in her credits and feared she was going to become a high school dropout. Before enrolling in Diploma Access Academy, her GPA was 1.0 but she graduated with a 3.3 GPA and a career certification in Child Development. Currently, Raquel is studying to become a phlebotomist.
“My teacher was so helpful when I didn’t understand something and she broke it down in ways that made me understand. My case manager was extremely helpful when it came to resources and making sure we were meeting our goals.”
Shyanne V.
Shyanne struggled with traditional high school. She was failing all of her classes and was not likely to graduate with her cohort. However, she was wary of starting online school.
